Bike and Van to Machupicchu 4 Days

Biking & Hiking To Machupicchu


This trip is well know as the Inca Jungle trip, and is one of the most varied routes that we have here in Qosqo were you can practice down hill mountain biking, the one that can be combine whit some hiking is well.

In order to do this activities we have to lead you all the way to Malaga Pass ( average of 3 hrs from Qosqo by bus) the elevation there is  4,330 meters or 14 419 feet above sea level., here is  where we get our bikes and get instructions from our guide. This part of the adventure will take us down into Santa Maria town at 1,430 meters or 4662 feet above sea level  in those valleys the farmers grow tea, coffee and coca leaves, the journey goes along the slopes of mountains on ancient Inca trails, the ones that will lead us to Machupicchu which we will visit on the fourth day.

Itinerary 4 days / 3 nights

Day 01

Cusco - Santa Maria

We came early in the morning to your hotel, to pick you up, then we take our private van the one that will be use as support vehicle and head towards the Sacred Valley going by Chinchero, Ollantaytambo, if we are lucky will get to see Waccac Willca or Verónica Mountain (5682 metres above sea level) from this place we start going up towards the Malaga Pass at 4,330 meters, and where our adventure will really begin.Ones that we get our bikes and after and small briefing from the guide we start the descent to the subtropical valleys going by some villages like Huyro and Santa Maria. The total distance covered will be 50 km arriving to Santa Maria village at 1,430 meters here is were we have overnight at a basic hostal.

Day 2: Santa Maria - Santa Teresa

After a deserved rest and an small breakfast we leave Santa Maria towards the village of Santa Teresa, along the way we have some hiking and exploring on a old Inca Path,  this path goes through some farms and thick vegetation where we will be able to enjoy the lush tropical flora and some birds of the area. will go through tropical plantations such as coffee, coca, pineapple, bananas,  avocado (this section will take us approximately six hours)  this hike has some step areas, the trail goes by the side of the mountain and you'll be able to see all the valley, ones that will pass this section our bun will be waiting for us and take us to Santa Teresa town at 1,900 meters above sea level. This afternoon we lead you towards an small camp side.

Day 3: Santa Teresa  -Aguas Calientes

Early in the morning after our breakfast we will  start our hike first leading you towards The Hydro electric  station ( this section is a bit flat and we go by the Urbamba river), and  from here towards Aguas Calientes town this is very gentle hike, along the way you get to see some orchids and some Incan structures like altars, will be arriving to this town by mid day, then we have a free afternoon  to wonder around this town, we can go to the hot springs or just relax, Overnight at a hostel.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco

Early in the morning is when our activities starts, will take the bus up to the Machupicchu Sanctuary, enjoy the sun rise and you'll have your guided tour in the Machu Picchu city then, you'll have time so you  can explore the marvellous Inca city, you can go to the Inca draw bridge or towards the spectacular  Huaynapicchu  peak. In the afternoon we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to return by train to Ollantaytambo and from here to Qosqo by bus.
